This is my old snowmobile camp in Osceola, NY, in the heart of Tug Hill, one of the snowiest places in the US. . . . . other side is on a hill overlooking a small manmade pond. . . . the camp itself is about 200 yards off the road, hidden in the woods. . . . . get the woodburning stove cranked up, sit back with a cocktail, looking out the back picture window, and you'd never want to leave again. . . . even snow haters fall in love with this place. . .

. . . Wes, park it on the road, and drive the sleds through the woods to get there. . . it's funny, because the tracks leading back look like a snowmobile trail, and we'd always get groups of people pulling up to the house thinking they were on a trail. . . .


. . . sadly the place is gone. . . . it was my mother & stepfathers . . . . we built it about 25 years ago, and when they retired they moved to florida for the winters. . . . they spent the summers here, and I had sole use of it from October to May each year. . . . however nice it is to spend some quiet time, they felt 5 months straight was a little too much time in isolation. . . . They offered it to me, but 65K for a weekend retreat is out of this humble postal workers salary range. . . . so, last year it went bye bye . . . .

what a shame, i would have loved to hit the trails with you.

Been out that way a few times. Also drove threw a couple of white outs that way. Very nice picture. I hunt in a area by the Catskill Mts and it looks just the same. I'll be heading out that way trout fishin in a couple of months. Know any good spots?

Great place to sled. I'm usually up at Old Forge at least twice a year with the awesome trail riding there. You must be bummed, I know what having a place like that at your disposal means to a someone who rides sleds. My parents owned a home with 25 acres in Moira, N.Y. that we use to go to hunt and snowmobile and they also sold it 6-7 years back. Funny, I hated to go there as a kid, but as an adult I miss it a lot.

gb, never did too much fishing, but it's close to the Lake Ontario eastern shore, which is littered with fishing villages - also, Salmon River going through Pulaski is popular, but I don't know about trout there. . .

yep Joe is still crazy as ever..he threatens to whip my arse every time i'm up there. hehehe

No Seth, I live in Ct., but there is a lot of us in town who grew up riding sleds our whole lives and always going to Old Forge, NY.
