Sorry to disagree with you, but no 427 was available in the 65 vette. The vette introduced the 396 big block motor in April of 65. 1966 started the 427. Yes a complete 427 will cost a bundle. I'm talking about buying a block crank, heads, ect, ect and putting one together yourself. If you avoid the tripower you can do it for around 6 grand and have a killer motor with 500 + hp. See my correction in my original post. Forgot to add that the 427 started in 1966

Besides economics, I have more confidence in a motor that I build then a store bought one.
I have seen crate motors with bad rods, valves slapping and other issues after 2,000 miles. Heck I redid a crate motor for a guy after his oil pick up fell off after about 5,000 miles. Yeah you have a warranty, but who the heck wants to go through the trouble of pulling & installing another motor.

But you can buy a 6K crate engine or a 9K engine the one I posted is a Edelbrock Signature and I believe it would be a very well built engine.

Anyone can put junk together and call it rebuilt but if you buy from a reputable company you will get good stuff

Buncha funny old geezers.

What they never mentioned is the 396 could be had with 425 HP. StreetRod knows about that.

Had a '55 Chevy with a stock 283
Had a '41 Ford truck with 350 Chevy making 325 HP
Had a '69 Chevelle 396/350
Currently have a '65 Vette 327/350 and it is faster than any of those.

Not to mention a 74 Camero that looked cool but the 350 made about 170HP thanks to the government mandates. What a pig that was.

There are many great Chevy small blocks and big blocks. My favorite is in my 68 Chevy Impala, SS427 L70.
