I believe there were a few here who got together to buy some of this once.

So... Do you think you were drinking insufficiently ripened, inferior coffee beans force fed to caged civets?

I don't see how this article should shock anyone.

When the price went from $650/lb down to $150/lb while demand increased, anyone with any sense should have realized that something was amiss.

I was the one that organized a box-split ("bag split?") on Kopi Luwak a bunch of years ago. Split a pound 3 or 4 ways. I know ScottHar was in on that. I dunno who else.

After the movie "Bucket List" came out, the price of cat s**t coffee went sky high. I think Nicholson mentioned it or something. I haven't bought any since.

Kopi Luwak pairs nicely with a RASS.

I wrote that part about the RASS tongue in cheek, then realized that most of you elitists would take that seriously.

Interesting article, Victor, thanks for posting it.

I do remember it tasting like tea; I even wrote about that on this board at the time. I remember the beans being much lighter than the ones pictured in the article, but that all depends on the roasting, not the natural, excreted state of Kopi Luwak.

My reading at the time found some speculated not only about the natural fermentation of the digestive tract, but also that the civet would only eat the ripe beans. So instead of a mixed harvest of ripe, overripe, and green beans, the Kopi Luwak beans would consist soley of optimally ripe beans. Or so the story goes...

I love me some Popeye's too.

Be careful in neighborhoods around Popeye's restaurants.

Thread jack on!

Haven't had Popeyes in forever.

Hell it's been years since I've had fried chickens period. But of the fried chicken fast food garbage, Popeyes makes the best fried chickens.
