10 mos ago my adult son called me up. He'd been in a car accident, was ok, but his car wasn't drivable.

I drove over. Hood smashed; radiator puked on the street. PD on the scene. So I walked up, looked the car over, and said [wait for it...]

"I thought it'd be way worse. They can buff that out no problem"
