You think that's something? I have a family friend that I do taxes for. Last year he earned just under $20,000 with 8 to support. His taxes where -$7,884 (I just pulled up the return). He had ZERO withheld and still got a check for $7,884 due to Child Care Credits, Additional Child Care Credits, and Earned Income Credits. Just for giggles, I slowly increased his income to see what it would do to his refund. If I add $3k in income, his refund maxs out around $8,250. After that it starts to decline.
If anyone doesn't believe me, run the numbers in your tax program. I think most of you will be shocked.
