So, they say sea level will rise by 1 to 4 feet by the end of the century. Fact or fiction?
Is global warming real?

It depends on your scope. Is it real in the last 20 years? Maybe.

It is real in the last 4 million years? No.

Will the sea level rise by 1 to 4 feet? Maybe. Then again, if memory serves me correctly, the recently discovered the bones of an ancient wale that went extinct some 20,000 years ago (I'm trying to recall this from memory) near an inland lake in New York. The only way the whale could have gotten there is if the sea level were much higher than it is today.

So given all of this, I have a hard time buying into the hysteria and scientific concern over "climate chage." It has changed radically in the past without man pumping CO2 into the atmosphere, and it will continue to change radically no matter what we do.

What I fear the most are the idiot wackos who actually thing this is a grave enough concern to go out to the point of making devices that will "fix" the problem, like the guy who proposed creating a fleet of ships that will vaporize sea water and pump it up into the atmosphere to "couteract" the effects of "man-made climate change." Given the spotty record of being actually correct by these types of people in the past, I can just imagine what damage they will actually inflict on the environment in the process of "saving" it.

Curiously, there is no common opinion of what science has found on the matter. And there is the belief that scientists are in the same boat as politicians when it comes to facts – that is, only marginally factual in order to manipulate.

[-o<
Well, when you make a living being a parasite in a lab coat and feeding off public funds, then yeah you're gonna get real political with the results of your "research."

You assumption, perhaps, is that scientists are someone above being human, which is probably one of the stupidest assumptions that can be made.

There were lots of scientists in Nazi Germany who sighed on to the Eugenics movement, and lots of them who nodded their head to sterlizing and exterminationg people they considered "substandard."

And - contrary to popular belief - there were lots of scientists who sighed on to the fact that the world was flat because some ancient Greek scientists said so.

Hey, I haven't asked a single question. I started into this thread having little to no respect for the participants answers.

Don't imply I even bother asking people their opinion. I already know their opinion and I know they're wrong and should go sit in their shame box.

Asking a question first is for amateurs (Brew)....
Wrong assumption.

How about healthy skepticism of those trying to control the pucblic, and those who waste resources for profit. 16 years of no warming and we get one warm year and the knee jerkers are circle jerking again.

I think man may contribute but I do not believe that we are primary and I do not believe we are going to heal gods creation.

Go and google conservative. I don't like waste of any kind and I do love the earth.

Warming believers are largely self richeous jackasses that cannot handle a foreign thought rolling through their brain. Likewise there are those on the other side that bother me too. Start a discussion by asking a question then disrespect them for their answer is the Victor method. I don't like that and turns my respect meter off.

My point of interest is what others think on this. I guessed everyone would be on board with warming occurring, but differ on the cause - I was wrong.

I really don’t need the climate to be changing to push for green technology. Guess I never bought into the “who give a sh1t about the future of the world” attitude as a few have displayed here.
Ha ! you just surrendered,,,,

btw,

4 yrs ago before The U.N. scam was exposed there was " Consensus" among the Prostitute Scientists that get Federal Grants . Consensus is opinion not fact.

The Chicago Carbon Exchange was all set to go..

The Hockey Stick was really a Popcicle stick...

The Exposure of the fraud ruined Goldman Sachs' next bubble,,,

It was not a contest – or a war.

Agreed that consensus is opinion, not fact (thank you Capt. Obvious 😄 ).

As I have pointed out in the past, the questions we ask are more important than the answers we get. Some find this puzzling.

I would further say on your behalf, that a man that does not ask questions of others – especially when stalled by his own egotism – is doomed to live in the fantasy of his own opinions.

You should ask questions of everyone. Remember that the fool is the twin of the wise.

So basically what your saying is your close minded and not actually open to any new ideas. Why be open to new ideas when you already know everything, sorry didn't realize you were omnipotent. 🤦

You seem to value scientists less than politicians. Now why would jpotts hate scientists?

The study of science made our modern life style possible. And the scientific field is more honest and honorable than many others that come to mind. While the body of scientific knowledge is replete with errors, they are found and corrected as time goes on. Science does not create dogma – that is the realm of others.

Omniscient.

I've been on this forum for a long time, and for many of the years I attempted to engage in open conversation with other members. I learned my lesson. I have realized that I have a much more enjoyable outlook on this forum if my entire goal is to bloviate for a bit and mock people.

A conversation requires equal participation from all members, and honestly a large number of people have neither the reading comprehension nor the math skills required to actually be participants in a conversation.

Using science to lie is truly nothing new – point taken.

However, the fault is not with the science. It is with those who twist it to lie and manipulate.

People do this with religion. But it is not the religion that is evil.

Marketing and spin aside - if they can be separated out – I think science is out best hope for our future.

Ogie?
