For the past four years, many of us in the private sector have had to suffer and sacrifice. I personally went from $60-$80k a year down to under $25k. Many others I know have had hours reduced and pay cut. Yet, our taxes continue to climb, and teachers in our local district and municipal employees continue to receive pay raises.
All this time, government employees have been insulated from the pain the rest of the country has been going through, as if they where an elite class above the rest of us, while adding to our children's and grandchildren's debt. Now that there is a suggestion that they too may have to suffer, the way many of the rest of us have had to over the past 4 years, all we hear is wailing and doom from Obama and the talking heads.
I'm sick of the talking heads parading government employee after government employee on our TV sets, with "woe is me" stories and crocodile tears. Most of them have had it very easy over the past 4 years. Isn't it about time that we, the ones who pay their salaries, ask them to sacrifice along with us?
