My oldest boy caught his first fish today (3/18)! I was so proud of him. That's a pretty important milestone for me and I wasn't there to see it. He just turned four last month and I had plans to take him out this year.. His grandmother, of all people, was the one to take him...wth.. Anyone else remember your first catch? Or your child's?

My oldest son (13 now) caught his first fish at about age 4/5. We were at a family party (graduation, reunion, something, don't recall) in a park and there was a creek nearby. My son walked down to the creek with his grandpa, dropped the line in, and within a couple (very few) minutes pulled out a bass...probably about the size in your pic. Kinda funny how it all went down.

Yeah. He got this one on his first cast. He was excited. His grandmother didn't know how to clean it so she told him it was too small..

He says, "but I wanna eat it!"

She replies with, "there's not enough for both of us there.."

He responds with, "if you wanted something to eat you shoulda caught your own!"

That's my boy-

My daughter was with me while I was trout fishing a small stream near my house. I had been fishing for about an hour and every fish that bit slipped my hook. She walks over an says daddy can I try? So I hand her my rod and I swear to God the second the hook hit the water BAM a nice sized Rainbow trout hit and she set the hook before I could even say anything. She was really excited and looks at me and says this is easy and walked away to go finish building her sand castle... lol I was speechless. Every time I go fishing now she likes to tease me and ask if I need any help.. lol.

Yeah..Definitely big enough for the pan..grandma was bein' a pansy, though..

CB: It's like you're mad because she landed one so quickly and didn't care..but at the same time, it was hilarious..haha. Makes me wonder how much longer you stayed out that day! Great story. I actually got a kick out of that.
