I bet Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is getting jealous of all the attention N. Korea is getting. Look for him to say something outlandish soon.

Put nukes in Japan.

The collective sphichster of the Chinese will force them to go to their Korean lapdog and force them to back down.

They do this every spring as an alternative for asking for food aid. And we negotiate with them every time. So let the Chinese negotiate.

I suspect I am not alone on this, but what I pick up is that whatever is causing such unhappiness in you is increasingly getting tougher to contain. It doesn't work, does it? And it makes me wonder what causes you so much more pain than the average jerks that land here.

Better to open up and let your anonymous friends get a look at the issues that must be really difficult for you, instead of pushing them away. I recently received a tremendous amount of great help, insight, and suggestions about a highly personal and painful situation realting to my son. You may recall that thread. Many PM'd me with phenomenal advice, others told me to PM them for even more help, and almost everyone took a humorous shot at me, or assumed I was the addicted person.

I have to tell you, it helped. I don't just mean my spirits, I mean factually. Things can change in a heartbeat, but my family put some ideas from here into play and there has been measurable improvement.

I fully expect a flip answer from you, no problem for me, but just know I have not typed one word here to hurt you, quite the contrary. I love all humanity, I wish all pain would vanish, but I know better.

So, I have enough stuff to deal with in my real life that you just can't make a dent with your diatribes over trivial points I make here.

Good luck brother.

Frank stick around. Right now it is all doom and gloom and negative but it changes based on the prez. Things were sunshine and lollipops until the uppity negro took office and once he's gone it will be again. For now it can't be. Nothing can be good lest it gets attached to this admin which would be awful because it is impossible for them to do anything right. It bleeds into benign **** out of habit. It's part of the collective psyche.

Sure there will be a period when the next R admin does everything right but things don't work out. That will be the big o's fault though. It will be pointed out by Obama worshipers that the same people claimed the economy etc was Obama's fault on day 1 not bush's but that will be largely lost. After all those people are idiots.

Then folks will speak with some authority on how things were awful during big o but better under the new r, everyone will agree and grunt approval. They will even send each other donuts. You'll see.

MacArthur abandoned his troops, and my Uncle, in the Philippines and from the safety of Australia, he ordered his troops to fight to the end. Thousands upon thousands upon many more thousands of people died. He is no hero and never will be a hero to me. MacArthur was a true American? What did he do that was heroic? Walked on a beach and exclaimed, "I have returned." While Wainwright and the others were dying in the death camps. Not we have returned, but I have returned. Only a bum would think this egotistical jackass was a hero.

jetblasted wrote:

First, I'm no fan od MacArthur, so keep that in mind.

Allowing MacArthur to be captured - and he would have been captured - would have been a major blow to the WWII Pacific theater. And when I say major, I do mean m-a-j-o-r. They would have tortured him, broke him, and he would have spilled a butt-load of military intel to the Japs.

Secondly, I read not too long ago that at the outset of WWII, there were 3 generals in the entire US military who had actually led troops in battle during wartime (namely WWI). The first was Patton, the second was MacArthur. Losing him in the Phillipines would have removed the only commander of ground forces that had any actual real wartime experience.

Eisenhower, Smith, Bradly - none of them had any wartime experience. Marshal was the other general who had bonafide wartime experience, but he was tapped to be the supreme commander of the US forces in the war by Roosevelt, and therefore could not command troops during WWII.

I know it is a pretty cold thing to say, but that outpost was lost anyways. The US could not defend it after Pearl Harbor, and an attempt to rescue those men would have been a feat that - given the logistics of the situation - would have resulted in a major catastrophy for the US in the Pacific. There would have been no way that the US could penetrate that deep into the Pacific without a well-established supply chain, ofv which there was none. Any rescue force would have been quickly cut off from supply and reinforcement, and then wiped off the face of the earth.

Secreting MacArthur out and preventing his capture was the only smart play in an otherwise sh*t hand.
