Good trip up to Port Clinton, OH.....the walleye capital of the world.

Took about four hours to limit out with 24 fish. No huge ones...but most over 24" Photo was just the first I grabbed out of the box to stage the picture.

Tonight.......fish fry.

Headed to PC this weekend. Had a place on Catawba Island for 18 years. This is a good time of year because you can limit on walleyes in the early a.m., and still have enough time to limit on perch afterward.

I went walleye fishing there a looong time ago. Caught a bunch. I spent the first part of the morning catching fish, and the second part looking for my buddy "raaaaalph" who fell over the side of the boat. 😰

Have a good friend whose parents have/had a place on Catawba (I think that's the place) for many years. Back in the late 80's - early 90's they had a 50' Wellcraft (Top Gun) and afterwards got a 40-something foot Sonic (both "cigarette" types). Went up a couple times....good times.

http://goo.gl/maps/Xd0p  over ten days last summer. Short growing season means they run smallish up there, but they practically jump in the boat.

Save the beer batter for cod or haddock. Walleye is too good for that - just dust it with flour and put it in cast iron skillet with some shortening.

While I agree that Walleye and Perch are the best eating fresh water species......I prefer many salt water fish over either.
