Big mouth bass, that is. Had another pleasant evening on Vail Lake catching fish. This was the biggest one that night.

Still drop-shotting crawlers from the pier? Around here, the bass wouldn't bother trying to beat off the cats and bluegills -- the largemouths expect me to work at it 🙂

Dave, I actually followed the advice of a girl I work with who fishes there a lot. I tied on a hook, put a worm on it and threw it out there, sans the weight. She was right... I did better. I've caught fish using lures, too, just seem to do better with night crawlers.

It's always windy there, Drafter. It's between mountains, so the wind just blows through. Mornings and evenings are pretty calm, though. Not sure about a current, but the bait was dropping very slowly without the hook and it never had time to hit the bottom.

There are catfish, carp, bass and trout in there. Never even seen a bluegill in that lake, and the trout are very difficult to find. In fact, I've only been told there are trout. Never seen or caught one.
