What does it take to homebrew, and do you have it. If you have it... would you be willing to make a few trades. I have some stuff that maybe you would be interested in.

For a first time, try one of the Mr.Beer kits (reusable). They come with everything you need to brew. If you enjoy it and it works out well for you then you can invest in more serious equipment. I have one but have not used it yet, it was a Christmas present (can't trade it away).

I would the shy away from Mr. Beer kits. If I recall, the recipe yields a very watery beer because of the amount of sugar used instead of malt extract. The recipe could probably be corrected, but I'd have to look it over.

I would check out some of the beermaking sites on the web. My favorite supplier was www.homebrewadventures.com, and my fav source for info was www.beertools.com. They have a great online forum too, and some online tools that actually help you build your recipes.

If some BOTLs can help you with equipment, that would be great. I really don't have any of the basic beginner stuff anymore, but I know that there are sites that sell starter kits with equipment that are very reasonable.

Make sure you get good book too. The one by Charlie Papiazan (sp?) is the gold standard. The book will also point you the right way if you want to make/scrounge your own equipment.

Man...........after seeing that pic of Thom's beer I'm getting the urge to brew again. I have a stash of a bottle of every beer ever made by my brewclub that has been aging for two years or more. I may have to go pop a few!
