Honeycrisp and Pink Lady are the BEST. You're right, though - they're crazy expensive. Fuji are always affordable, but I don't really like them at all.

Wait for the honey crisps every year - best apple ever - but ya, ya gotta pay to play, some of the farmer markets are cheaper, but the apples are smaller too. Niece is in Minn, some apple farms there where you go pick your own for a decent price. Always score some there too.
