Is there any way to tell where your Sam Adams was brewed?

(I think they use several breweries across the country, if I'm not mistaken).

I ask, because I have found this year's Octoberfest to be medicre at best.

Pretty good up front, but a flat finish and no depth.

I Drank Sam Adams for a while, but there are so many beers now...

On the Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesen, the description says 'This is one of two authentic Munich Oktoberfest beers (not Marzens) available in the U.S..'

... Anyone know what the other would be?

Why all the hate on SA beers?

Their Boston Lager is consistently good on tap.

There are certainly better brewers out there, but Sam's is damn good.

shhhhh don't tell anyone but I secretly like many of their seasonals and think they get a bad rap. it's just uncool to admit it. I don't like the flagship lager though.

On top, the lager is very good.

I never buy it in bottles.

The difference is significant.

No idea. Paulaner is the only one I've found.

Edit: I just found this one:

HofbrauHaus from the descriptions is a "yellow" beer, so maybe that's it.

Next year, I would suspect that a certain brewery in the Denver area will make a weisn bier. I've already planted the bug in my friends ear about doing it... His marzen is a big seller in the Denver metro area though, so it may be a little tough to bring competition to that beer.

Honestly, I've only tried their beer once, so not really much to form an opinion on.

They have a good rep, and when I've talked to their people (at a testimony before a Govt committee about selling beer in supermarkets) they seemed OK, and passionate about beer.

I'm going to guess it is the Weishenstephaner that I mentioned earlier. Incredibly similar to the Paulaner and it's an "Oktoberfestbier" not a marzen.
