Was recently made aware of banned & challenged books by the American Library Assoc from a preschool teacher. None are available in our school district's libraries. I have to say I am appalled. The actual reason why some of these are banned is even more appalling.

I'm surprised that the Bible isn't on the banned books list.

1984, Brave New World, and Animal Farm...no surprise there. They definitely don't want government controlled public schools teaching impressionable young minds to question the political status quo and freely develop independent thought.

Those books damn well better be on the banned list. (They were required reading for me in school)

Atlas Shrugged should also be banned.

Read six of the top ten.

The government should have protected me from these books. They made me think...... and stuff.

Grapes of Wrath was required reading in my 10th grade English class. A few snickers about the ending.

Just re-read it this year. One of the greatest books of all time, but high schoolers are too young to feel the impact, since they've never had to provide for a family.
