Oh, so not having health insurance and just going to the free clinic when you have a problem is how you think the guvmut should subsidise healthcare. Now that sounds cheaper for the tax payer - not.

And yes, yes - I am your density . . .

It was. FAR cheaper. And those free clinics were run better in the past, cleaner, and more efficient than they are today.

Because those free clinics were often run on local dollars, and charity. Cripes, in a pinch my mom too me to the free clinic when she had to, and paid out-of-pocket for services.

My great uncle and his partners used to donate a portion of their time to working in the free clinic. It was considered part of their duty to their patients. In fact, they used to take things on trade (just about anything, I might add) in payment for services. Again, it was part of their responsibility to their patients. it wasn't until a bunch of lazy, ignorant people like you came along and imagined something "better" (read: where you could sit on your lazy azz and expect the rest of us to subsidize you) that all of this changed.

Get a job you stinky hippy. Work will do you good. You may even learn a thing or two (kinda doubtful, but we can only hope).

You ate utterly frickin' CLUSELESS when it comes to this subject. Do us all a favor, and stop wasting our time with your mindless drivel.

Don't you know nothin? Rates never go down, they only increase more slowly . . .

Brewha wrote:

Again, this shows your total lack of historical perspective.

Rate go up in health insurance because people demand that the insurance pays for more procedures so they don't have to pay out-of-pocket for their medical expenses.

Pre-1980, BCBS coverage was a relative rarity, as was employer coverage of health care. A lot of people - and I do mean AL LOT - paid out-of-pocket for doctors visits.

Fast-forward to the early 1990s, and employer coverage is becoming a standard, with catastrophic insurance.

Now they pay for office visits, you pay a co-pay, cover a huge variety of prescriptions, and so on. You think the magical health insurance fairly just somehow reduces the costs? No, the costs increase because the amount of technology and people requited to process a single payment to either a pharmacy or a doctor more that doubles. That all costs money - a lot of money.

And now to top it off, we've got morons like you wanting to get the federal government - the one entity who has never heard the term "cost reduction" in its entire existence - involved. And you, like a complete and utter moron lecture the rest of us about how this is somehow good, and then justify it with "rates always go up." Yeah, you're a frickin' genius, all right.

You're a moron. You have no clue as to what you are talking about. You are off in the weeds in this discussion. Spare us all your brand of sheer idiocy, OK?

No,no. You did not post erroneous information. If fact, the OP does not even have information or opinion that are from you. You posted "look what I found". You posted "hear say". How could YOU be wrong?

Ostensibly, you mean how could this editorial opinion piece be wrong? Yes? Because God knows it's only an opinion and a bit short on facts. But it is ripe with conclusion . . . that are by no means demonstrated.

This opinion peice looks at the issue through a straw. And for insighting rage, so much the better.

Thank you. You noticed that I posted an editorial that lacks my opinion. Did I miss read the rules. I didn't realize my opinion was required.

That being said, you say I posted an editorial based on weak facts. Damn, I set myself up for a perfect slam dunk based off your more factual assessment.

I eagerly await your response and all the facts that you will provide.

Do you have any idea how long I'll have to wait for these facts?

And I hope you develop opinions of your own to post. Because your found opinions arn't so good.
