Pulled this from the NY Public Libary Gallery. Sorry there's no more information...thought the pic had character though. Something like this framed would make a great wall hanging for your smoking space IMHO.

Now that is an awsome pic. Totally agree that put in a nice frame in the smoking room would be a nice addition.

I have mixed feelings about child labor. I started working in the lettuce fields in the summer at age 13. It didn't kill me; rather I thank it taught me the value of showing up each day and earning a pay check.

Yup.......started mowing lawns at 12 and then moved on to planting watermelons at 14. Good lessons learned about labor and money values.

Started delivering newspapers so young the route had to be in my sisters name because I wasnt of age yet. Have worked every day since. It definately wont kill you and lets you know nothing is free or comes easy.

When I would misbehave as a kid my uncles would threaten to send me to work in the tobacco fields. I hear that job sucks.

That photo was probably taken around the end of the 19th Century or just after. Either in Tampa, or Miami Florida in one of the many Cigar Warehouses that were there at the time. Some are still around.
Tampa has a Cigar District, called Ybor City, as does Miami's Old Village Disrict, or Fowler District.
Having lived in Tampa for over 22 years, I've seen many old Historic pictures just like this one. I have a small collection of prints from Florida, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic.
I am hoping to get my hands on some old Cigar Molds from Cuba some day. Who knows...?

Wild,
Go to Cuba and get some. You can pick up all sorts of really fine things there from yesteryear such as molds, cutters, blocks, and presses. Really cheap too, just go to the antiques stores.
