I had a soup and salad for lunch. My salad also had ham and turkey and was between two pieces of toasted sourdough.

Odd you'd post this today. A buddy of mine was just telling me a story last night about getting his salad tossed by some dude and his girlfriend.

I don't think salads are for me.

What Harbolt said, Jackson. Hope you're feeling better. Might try adding sunflower seeds and a few dates plus tangerine slices for sweetness & flavor contrasts.

a mild winter and some makeshift greenhouses lead to us having some early lettuce (long leaf, not iceberg) and spinach in the garden...

I love growing the stuff for salads...

I love making a ton of different salads for my wife...

but try as I might, I just don't like salad...

What's the secret exactly to developing a palate for what should essentially be fed to rabbits which are then slaughtered and eaten by humans?

^^^^really good balsamic vinegar and gourmet oil - avocado, walnut (my current fave), grapeseed, EVOO...I'm tellin' ya, it's the secret to happy salads!

Also, we have a rabbit. He likes his salad just fine, but he'll whoop your azz for a graham cracker.

I do oil and vinegar, except for the occasional caesar. I like hearty veggies in there- broccoli, cauliflower, slices of english cucumber, etc. A few croutons are okay, especially if freshly made, but too many and I just have a stale inside out sandwich. Nuts are okay sometimes, but generally I would just prefer to eat those separately. Cheese... sometimes. I don't like people throwing in the random sweet item in an otherwise garden salad. A specific kind of salad with sweet stuff in there, no problem.

People that douse salads in ranch should be taken out back and shot.

How to like salads? Try to appreciate all of the ingredients without dressing. In fact, go easy on the lettuce and just work on a plate of veggies. Throw some ground pepper on them and maybe add a hardboiled egg for protein. Experiment with adding pickled stuff or hot peppers to see if that will give you the flavors you're looking for.

good suggestions... I'm gonna have to try cuz I've put on 20 pounds in the last 8 months... I'm at a good weight now but I can't keep going like this or I'm gonna have nothing but sweat pants that fit me...

Also, a graham cracker loving rabbit? how did you discover that?

Mo, we eat alot of salad with dried cranberries and candied walnuts. Totally agree on the ranch statement.

I'm a vinegrette or REAL blue cheese kinda guy.

MMMmmmm...LOVE cranberries in a salad! Never tried candied walnuts, but sunflower seeds and toasted chopped almonds are da bomb in a salad, especially with a little leftover chicken to make it a solid lunch.

We discovered the beastie's love of graham crackers the same way we discovered his love of raisin bagels & cheetos - he jumped up in a lap and snatched it from someone's hand LOL. He'll run his happy-laps for cranberries too, but that one is a gimmie.
