This would fit any number of Vet charities. As bad a WWP may seem, they are somewhat middle of the road.

Stay tuned.

Would be nice if they lowered their overhead/salaries, however, I agree with Burner. They are doing good work and definitely not a scam....as some would like us to believe.

You can download any 501(3)c's Form 990 they have to file with the IRS each year. It shows salaries, overhead and other non-charity spending. Some are very enlightening.

For example I downloaded one charity I support and realized the CEO/International Director makes peanuts compared to the scope of his job-nowhere near 6 figures. Other charities pay their CEO with less responsibility nearly twice what "my" guy does.

I support other VSOs than Wounded Warrior Project as I know the directors personally of the EOD Warrior Foundation and just joined the VFW.

I’m throwing my two cents in on this thread not to take up for WWP but to provide additional info on Vet charities. I have donated to WWP in the past but will have to re-evaluate due to their 2nd amendment stance which I was not aware of prior to donating.

This past year after hearing that several Vet charities were not providing support, I joined Charity Watch to better educate myself on the good verses the bad. What I found was really surprising. They provided info and grades on approximately 48 veteran’s/military charities as well as just about any national charity one can think of.
Of the grades, there were 25 F’s, 4 D’s, 1 C-, 2 C+, 2 B-, 2 A-, 4 A, and 3 A+. Five organizations fell into the “Large Asset Reserves” category which involved another set of parameters. I will name a few with grade which is based on 2012 data:

AMVETS National Service Foundation (F)
Armed Forces Aid (F)
Disabled Veteran’s National Foundation (F)
Paralyzed Veteran’s of America (F)
Disabled American Veteran’s (D)
Blind Veteran’s Assc (D)
American Legion National Hq (C-)
WWP (C+)
USO (C+)
Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation (B-)
Iraq & Afghanistan Vet’s of America (A)
Fisher House Foundation (A+)
Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (A+)

Grades are determined on several factors to include percent spent on program services, the costs to raise $100, a charities top salaries, plus other parameters.

I find it rather odd that the author, Alex Graham, is going after WWP when there are at least 30 other Vet/military charities with a worse tract record than WWP. Granted, WWP is not at the top of the list but not at the bottom either. Ol Alex sounds like he has an ax to grind.

Just another FOG’s opinion.🌫

Not necessarily - his group didn't ask him to evaluate those others. They were considering contributing to WWP, so that 's the one they asked him to investigate. Sad that there ARE so many who are much worse.

Surprised the USO got a C+, I've found them unfailing courteous as I've traveled around, and seen a few USO shows while in Iraq and A'stan. Going to look into that unless someone knows the reason.

We have donated to USO in the past and probably will in the future. There is something to be said about a friendly face far from home (even if they are a C+)

AS for the Americam Legion i can tell you 99.9% of the work is done by Volunteers and they don't send the money to National HQ. Plus the real Action and Power is at the State Level. As a Past Sal State Commander i can tell you we raised A lot of money and except the Child Welfare fund , most of it was used for the good of local Vets and thier families..
