I'm with Fiddler on this, perhaps with a different religious slant, and yes I do recognize this position to be unpopular, but let me explain...
I agree with most everyone in that every fiber of my being wants to hate and despise him and his followers, but the best I can muster is to abhor their behavior and beliefs while hoping (praying) for them as people. Sad that they have yet to see the evil of their ways.
But on a grander scale, they represent the challenge to most of our deepest convictions whether religious, moral, or in what we pay lip service to as American Freedoms. To really have the mainstream and left/right of center be free while living within our way of government requires the same freedoms for the despicable. If there were no blips, no waves, no challenges of the extreme, we would never really know if our claims of freedoms really exist. That's why Nazis had to be allowed to parade through (heavily Jewish) Skokie Illinois. People hated the ACLU but they understood it was about freedom being challenged in an extreme way.
I may get bashed for the above, but I guess I'm exercising my Freedom...and providing these unlikable beings with the same as i have protects mine, odd as it may sound.
But, yeah, Good Riddance.
