I just got home from hearing the BSO play it live...in Fiddler898's seats. Amazing.

Alan, were you listening to it on WCRB?

Nothin' nearly as sophisticated:

Rap Reiplinger - Poi Dog with Crabs - "...eh Russell, you get pen?"

Did a single listen through this afternoon of Volume 1, Ballads, Harry Smiths Anthology of American Folk Music. Well worth having if you are a serious music buff. A lot of the stuff in the first volume is American regional interpretations of older traditional songs, but a whole lot of it is way more wide open lyrically andmusically than you would think for the times, 1927-1935. Names youmight recognize on vol 1 - The Carter Family, Carolina Tar Heels, Mississippi John Hurt, and Furry Lewis. I love it! And there is just a buttload of paper that came with it covering backgrounds of the performers and songs , at least as much as is known.
