I'm fairly new to but how is it possible to bid on an item 43 seconds before a lot closes and win? I bid on an the item for two days and 43 seconds before it closes someone outbids me??? Like i said before, I'm new to auctions but when I've done last minute bids it ALWAYS added time "grace period" to the item for a counter-bid. It seems that the item was too cheap and they didn't want to sell it off at such a low price so it was fixed. Can someone help explain this to me because customer service couldn't, except to tell me its at the sites discretion.

It's called sniping.

The last minute bid extension on other auction sites helps to prevent this.

Cbid doesn't add time to an auction for a last minute bid.

Set your max bid as your max bid and leave it be. If someone wants to pay more than you're willing to pay, they will. If not, you win.

Bottom line is whomever is willing to spend the most for the product is the one that gets it. If you're willing to spend more, increase your max bid. If not, wait for it to list again and start over.

It's actually quite complicated.

You bid $X amount and it is a winning bid for 2 days.

Smoker B decides to bid $X + 1 with 43 seconds before closing time.

This bid is higher than yours and wins.

OK.

So maybe it's not so complicated.

This site does not function the same way as other auction sites do. You can not put in a bid in the last minute to add or extend the auction time to your advantage. Get used to being sniped in the last seconds. Auctions close promptly as advertised so set your max bid early.

I was sniped once for a box of smokes that I haven't seen again within $50 of the winning bid since then. Makes me cry like a baby.

Thread jacker. But yes, I did essentially do that. I was denied. And now I can't even have them for close. I can't bring myself to purchase them at 170 when they went for 125 before

it seems like you are insinuating that cbid has put this process in place to protect them from selling something at a price they are not willing to accept. I choose to believe that this auction site is managed with the highest integrity and consideration for the customer. there have been a beau coup of deals that have sold dirt cheap and others that have been way over bid. IF cbid implemented something like you are suggesting, i am confident that they would notify auction participants in the rules section.

Any way, what #2 and 3 said is the thing to do.🌫

Now that poor DP is gone, I feel like a hawk among pigeons here.

I buy what I want, for the price I want, and, 75% of the time...........when I want.

This applies to here, and there, and that other place too.

You minions should be thankful I'm on hiatus again.

RIP Dave, and thanks for the free Second Edition of "How To Buy Premium Cigars Online".

I agree with #13. I've gotten boxes of cigars for prices I'd only get a fiver ( maybe a little more) of at the best other sites you may find. This site is the only way I can comprehend having a such thing as a daily cigar or rotation

Thanks king for allowing us peasants to get by. Without your generosity we wouldn't even live in a cove. We'd be next to the highway with all the traffic.

Ah! There's hope for you Puff......................there's hope!

Hopefully this hiatus will last at least as long as my personal record.....5 months and 9 days.

5 months and 2 days to go...........
