Yes. I take so much seriously and personally. Especially from someone that would argue the grass isn't green and sometimes even believes their own argument.

Was listening to Tommy Smith on ESPN radio talking about the upcoming Germany/USA game.......

He indicated he would not at all be surprised if the game ended in a 0-0 "tie".........

I have a feeling the "fix" is in........both teams will kick the ball around, keep possession, not spend too much energy....

In this situation, I think winning the group may not be worth the effort.

Playing an easy, safe game to a draw benefits both teams.

It's happened before in World Cup play.

I don't believe it is going to start out like that here. If the game is played for a bit and still at a tie then maybe both teams will lay off some but I really don't think the fix is in.

Any commentator that thinks the fix is in is a moron. They will likely both play conservative ball and take few risks but will try to score when it presents. But there is no fix. My guess is some will accuse that after based on the style of play.

Yes it happened in the 80s which is why they play simultaneous games now. It wasn't really even a "fix". They both just got word of a result and then sort of kicked the ball around a bit.

Everyone needs a conspiracy.

Fix is a strong word I know.........and not exactly what I'm trying to convey.........I'm not talking Black Sox here.

It won't be a blatant "display". But it could become a factor.

If ether Germany or the US scores in the first 20-30 minutes, well then, things would change, and each team would play "normally",

BUT, like shaun341 is indicating, if it's a tie at the 70th minute??

We'll see...............

I also heard Tommy Smith, I think on the local radio.

He said that the best chance for the US is to play for a nil-nil tie.

And of course, the krauts would benefit and win the group.

But he said nothing of a fix.

In fact, the US coach alluded to a fix by scheduling the favorites most favorably (Germany with an extra day off, etc) but Tommy said that was ridiculous.

I enjoyed his commentary and loved that he thought they should suspend the floppers for at least a couple games. Said it would instantly end flopping. Then he said no one in soccer had the balls to institute the rule.

lol...I felt like biting the dang Italians too, especially Chianelli (who Suarez did bite)...they're whiny drama queens who play with ill intent, and they finally paid for it when one of them stupidly kicked an opponent's knee right in front of the ref.

Balotelli's karate kick aimed at the head in the first half was a blatant effort to injure. Reminded me of the French player who played for Man U in the 90's...Coach was wise to sit him out for second half, but it didn't help. Glad Italy is out.

The mad-dog Suarez will prolly get a one year suspension, if not a lifetime ban. Three biting incidents... wow. What a nutjob, and a waste of talent. His absence will cost Uruguay a world class scorer.
