Been into this thing for 2 weeks now. At my Myrtle Beach house for the month. Still trying to figure this thing out. Honestly after working in my profession for 49 years, I kinda miss it. Have updated my résumé & have sent it out to do some consulting work. Been eating, drinking & smoking & enjoying the weather. Have a 1934 Hot Rod waiting for me to redo in Jersey when I get back home. Until then, I guess I'll go with the flow & eat, drink& smoke some great cigars.

If anyone is in the area & wants to get together for a C-gar & drink lat me know. I will be here until July 31.

Streetrod - my husband is finally able to retire completely and what did he do? Started his own pilot car business! He's gone nearly as much as he was before he 'retired'.

Conversation we had on Saturday.

Him: I couldn't get my car in to fix the air conditioning until Monday so I'm not sure when I'll get it fixed.

me: what's wrong with Monday?

Him: what if Joe or Don call me about working on Monday? I won't have my car!

me: Tell them your car is in the shop and you'll catch them next time...

Him: fuming silence

So much for retirement.....

I can't wait for it now (approaching 45), but in 10 years when I do call it quits I can see myself getting very bored after a few months.

You should take up fishing! it can be a lot more than just sitting around and waiting... and there's so much information to learn and things to experience... if you get into fly fishing, you can take up fly tying... if you get into lure fishing, you can get involved in lure making... you can pour your own soft plastics, make your own baits, all kinds of stuff... you might be shocked how much time it can take up if you want it to...

I'm 56 and coming uo on the "opportunity" to retire. Wish I'd taken up a hobby like Street Rods or something. Afraid I might wind up bored.

Trish: sounds like a man I could get along with. Funny got a call today to do some consulting work in Sept. my wife said to go for it if I want to. It's not that I am bored, I have plenty of things on my plate. I just hate to waste 49 years of professional knowledge.

He loves the trucking industry. When he lost his CDL because of a heart condition, he was lost....for about 3 days. Then he came up with this idea and its been off to the races. I'm happy for him but he needs to realize that he really doesn't have to work 60+ hours a week any more.

OUCHE!!

Not tired at all. Actually I am only 66. Started in my profession, full time, one week after graduating high school when I was 17.

Went to college at nights to get my undergraduate degree all 129 credits, then did 12 credits towards my masters before calling it quits.

It was a great run. If the good lord would have said that he would give me the life I've had when I was 17, I would have said where do I sign.

Hope to continue having fun ( & taking cigars from guys like TG) 🤣 🤣 for many more years.
