Went bushwackin' blazin a trail down to an ole' dried up pond holler' on my atv.
Kinda hairy and steep but cleared out at the bottom. Couple saplings in my direct vicinity pulled out my lobers and hacked them down to the well manicured centipede grass. The horses love it.
I did a 3 point turn to get pointed back up the bank I came down and right when I come to a stop to step of my atv I hear a rustling thud next to my right foot. I looked down and to my surprise was a pissed off 4 foot Prairie Rattler. Biggest rattler I have every seen in the wild. Poised up eye level with my ankle. Half a second from letting me have it.
I was 2 inches from running him over. Almost like he had climbed up my rear tire and fell off. Thud.
I didn't have anything but my little 2 ft lobers. So I froze... And he started inching away.
I fired up engine and tore Azz to get back to the house. Came back with gun. He Gone!!!

I need a snake trap. Anybody need snake skins?🍺

I'm glad you didn't get bit. I killed a copperhead in my backyard in Norfolk a couple of weeks ago.

I killed a 6ft Diamondback when I was 17, Quail hunting,,,
Scared the piss out of me...

Hillbilly keep a short fishing rod on the ATV, leave a large Panther Martin tied on it. Old trapper I know swore by it.

They strike the treble hook and can't get loose. He would then just cut the head off and buy a new lure.
