That's what it cost me to get AC back.

The technician came over and sprayed some goo on the cooling coil outside. Then he checked all the pressure readings. He said that since the fan couldn't pull enough air over the cooling coil due too dirt, it shut itself off.

Seems to be running fine now.

My CIL told me she buy's a $5 can of DIY spray every year and cleans her coil. I guess I better start cleaning mine.

I rinse mine with the hose a few times a year. That's free!

Rheem units have a metal jacket around condenser coil. There not easy to clean without taking jacket off. If you don't have a lot cotton or dogwood dander you should only have to clean that coil every few years. I assume you have a heat pump. In Michigan we have bad cottonwood trees. If the tech pulled jacket off and cleaned with a hose or power washer that's not a bad price. If you want more info PM me your info.

whatever you do do not use a pressure washer!!!!!

just use a garden hose and nozzel. always spray from inside the unit out thru the coil.......reverse of how the fan

pulls the air thru...the only time you need chemicals is if there is lots of grime or oil on the coil.
