a bunch of guys here rave about them (I think they make knock offs) but I'd just never used or seen them used. Sounds cool to me. I like stuff. It would be cool to somehow attach a durable thermo to the grate.

For some reason, they are really easy to fall in love with.
One of the other things about them is that they are party grills. You can get a ton of food on them because with a little bit of work with the poker, you can get even heat over basically the entire grill surface.
I think they actually started out as very large cookers, and trailer cookers, stuff like 4 foot by 6 foot grills and then eventually got scaled down to residential sizes.
Plus, they have this really nifty curled meat hook built from a golf club just for flipping stuff over that's way over on the other side of the grill.
I just got back from a week in the mountains at the family cabin, and everytime we go there, we cook our steaks using coals from the campfire.
Nothing better . . .

Do you pull the coals out and put them in a grill?
