I'll never forget back in Raleigh in the mid-80's, the popular rock station there did a play-off during lunch of Stones vs Zeppelin ... It was so popular that day, that it took off and the station played one Stones, then one Zeppelin for the rest of the day/night. I "think" the talley of votes during call-ins was in favor of Zeppelin, but regardless it had the city talking for days about how cool it was . . .

Watch the documentary "20 Feet from Stardom". She's in it talking about this song....Mick's in it, too. She was 19 years old and pregnant when she recorded this. They got her up in the middle of the night and just ran her into the studio and told her to sing her guts out. So she did. After the "Raaaape....Murder" part that she belts out, you can hear Jagger let out a "Whoooo" for her powerful voice. It's a terrific documentary. If you haven't seen it...do.

Check out the cover version done by the Sisters of Mercy. I really dig the original, but their cover is actually just a little better.

Best documentary. It's terrific. Also watch "Muscle Shoals". The amount of music that has come out of the little Alabama town over the last 50 years is astonishing.

Sorry Wheel, I like the Beatles but it me they are not what rock and roll is about. The Stones, Lead Zep, and the Who are my rock and roll icons.

BTW, how is your mom doing?
