^^That's where parents come into play.

You know... those two people who are supposed to be looking out for your best interest and teaching you morals and responsibility and stuff?

See, that's a black and white argument that really doesn't take real life into account. We're talking about teenagers here first off. When you have the school and the sports staff blowing smoke up a kids ass I think it's very easy for those kids to fall into the trap of sports first and quality education maybe 3rd or 4th down the list of priorities. Some of these kids graduate High School and can barely read. But, they can dunk and hit 3 pointers all day long. So, they get a pass from teachers in high school and then in college. It's easy to armchair quarterback what they should do. But, when it's you(some 17 or 18yr old kid) in the middle of the tornado of free grades and free college and God only knows what else these kids get offered, the issue becomes a lot more difficult to judge. At least that's how I see it. /Shrug In a perfect world everyone would do right by these kids and the kids themselves would understand what's going on around them and make sure they do right by themselves. I don't think we live in that world though.

So what you're saying is that colleges should prolong the agony of defeat for 4 more years.

The fact that the schools make money is a separate issue from what the "student athlete" agrees to when accepting a scholarship.

If they want to make money, get a job that pays them accordingly.

I'm amazed that so many people are confused on this issue.

Seems like no rules were broken here.

But rules are rules no matter if you disagree with them. Live by them, change them, or accept the consequences of breaking them.

The same is true for illegal immigration. I wan't to make it easier for people to legally immigrate here. It is next to impossible right now given the quota restrictions etc. But that does not make it ok to break the rules in place. If you are not here legally you must go,

Cuban cigars. I want them legalized. They are not. If you get caught with them there are consequences.

Want your cattle to graze for free on federal land? Change the law. If not accept the consequences.

Speeding. Same thing.

Athletes and coaches need to know the rules they have agreed to. Don't like them? Change them. Didn't change them and still don't like them? Live by them or accept the punishment for breaking them.

That's life. If you pick and chose you win and lose.

I also support a change in the law that says for a 12 month period it is legal to kick the person who reported this in the balls/vag and he/she will have no legal recourse..
