It's nice that yourself and Victor can continue to use your comparisons to quote literally MILLIONS up MILLIONS of illegals coming over the Southern Border to an occasional fisherman slipping up and back. No chance of a good clean discussions with folks who refuse to compare apples to Apples and stay On Topic. And imagine that yet another obvious insinuation that this is a RACIAL issue, you guys disgust me.

TMCTLT... I'm simply trying to keep you on track.
There are two problems, and the talking heads like to combine them and suggest that a single solution will fix both, because they want to make political points. But that's false.
Problem 1 - Lots of mexicans. Lots of mexicans want to come in to the US to work. While I suspect all the politicians want this as well, half of them are invested in convincing you they don't want this. Lots of mexicans coming across the border has very specific negative impacts (public resources) as well as a few possible solutions (reduce the available jobs). The most popular right-wing solution is this mythical wall. This will probably reduce the inflow a bit, but really just the lazy and least determined of them.

Problem 2 - Big bad evil terrorists. The common meme being kicked around by the talking heads is "if this many mexicans make it through, it is easy for small groups of determined evil-doers to get across too"... to that I say, so? If we're talking about small groups of evil doers, they can come across into the US literally anywhere. They're small and determined, remember? and don't forget, these are funded terrorists, they don't even need to come across illegally. What's to stop them from just getting a fake passport and flying in? And hell... we don't even need to import terrorists. they can just convince a few locals to join their cause. Bottom line is this, the mythical wall won't even cause terrorists to pause for a second. Hell, I'm willing to bet that right now they don't bother going across the mexican border... that's the one we're looking at already.

If you want your wall, you make the argument based on the illegal immigrants coming from mexico. That's the argument it needs to live or die on. The terrorism argument just doesn't fly...

I hope you were joking tW (I think you were)... I mean, some of these guys were registered with the FAA... they didn't run across any border. A quick look at their wikipedia pages shows some were flying in and out of the US to various countries prior to 9/11. They came in from a number of different countries, but I have yet to find one that came over from Mexico (I didn't check them all though).

What no one seems to realize, or simply refuse to acknowledge, is that we have an intentionally porous border. I mean, people travel to the USA from every single country on the planet simply for tourism. And, since we don't have the sophisticated secret police that the USSR used to have, once someone comes into the country they're pretty much free to travel around as much as they want. Some of them simply don't leave. Yep... it's that easy. Sure, that's not going to let thousands in to steal your jobs, but that sure as hell is enough to get a handful of terrorists in.

On a serious note, anyone listen to Rush yesterday, he had a gal call in who she and her husband run a scrap yard and work with a number of towing outfits who periodically bring then vehicles that have been abandoned etc. well as part of their routine they go through and take all junk etc. out before processing them. In a vehicle they were going through yesterday they came across several passport like ID's with ONE individuals face on every one of them as well as papers that showed this person had also worked @ an International Airport or two!!! She went on to say that the individual appeared to be of Muslim origin ( African not MiddleEastern )Her husband being former Marine said they should probably shed some light on this matter, so he called HS ( Homeland security ) and was told....since it Did Not take place on Federal Property that there was NOTHING they could or would do about it. They suggested they contact their local / State LE.....when he responded they lived in a very small town that did not have a LEO office.....he was then told to " try to flag down a local Sheriff!!! UN F'n Believable.....](*,)

Seems like a solid enough source to me. An unidentified caller on the Rush Limbaugh show.

On a less serious note, when I was in high school I made a fake drivers license using the printing and lamination equipment at the school. A buddy dared me to put a picture of Gary Coleman in it rather than my own and attempt to use it. I bought beer from a gas station later that day using it.

Of course I also made one with my own picture that was used until I turned 19.
