They're calling it Post-Truth politics. The guy in the article Rep. Tom Cotton, R-Ark straight out said that he doesn't care if his commercials are full of lies and even said he was going to boost spending to run this particular ad even longer knowing it's full of lies about his opponent.

The Republicans have said they will do everything in their power to make sure the President does not get anything passed congress no matter what it is, even if it's something their own constituents would benefit from.
