It is and it's in a nice container but barrilito is better for much less imho.

Lol. I think pr rum is overrated. Barrilito is good cheap rum but not worth seeking out.

finishing off the evening with El Dorado (Guyana) cask aged 8 year Demerara rum. Nice, clean, dry. Super smooth, no burn, no cut needed. Elegant sipping rum...should have had this with my H Up Mag 46 earlier.

Live and learn.

Can anyone (...Frank?...) suggest a good rum for under $50 for relative newbies into this libation? Friend is coming back at the end of May so we're planning on herfing and smoking a good Cuban and wanna try something different than the dark beers / bourbon that we usually imbibe in. Thanks.

if you can give me an idea of what you imagine your taste profile might be, this might be the impetus I need to finally pack up all the stray items I have for you by topping it off with a bottle before your friend arrives!

don't say "no".

But in all seriousness, probably go for something that's sweeter, at least for this initial foray into the rum-monster. Full disclosure - I got super wasted on rum in high school and haven't had it neat since then. I'm going into this with a lotta trepidation as I've been okay drinking it with pineapple juice and stuff but nothing straight up since that fateful night 40+ years ago (...trust me, you don't want to know what happened...).

If it's any help, we plan on smoking some Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especials (...thanks to Paul...) in honor of our classmate Kevin. Originally I gave them to my 2 cigar smoking classmates to ash up after Kevin's services but his son gifted us some La Duena #5s so we smoked those instead.

So ultimately, if there's a rum that would pair well with the HdMEEs, then that's what I'll look for at the local shpos. Thanks FS.

See post #87. Though it will run a bit more than $50 per bottle when you add shipping. It will also take 3-4 weeks for delivery. But, you won't be sorry.
