on all 30 counts.
Life vs Death penalty phase begins Monday, I believe.

This will be an example of our system of justice working when a fair trial can be had by one so demonized. And important that it was done not with a Military trial. It can't get much more challenging than this.

Let the healing begin for all of the victims' families.

NO surprise verdict there. On with the sentencing. There should be no surprise verdicts there either - and THEN let the healing begin.

Hey, if they time it right mabe the same firing squad can dispatch Bergdahl alongside him.

correct, the verdict was known early on, apparently the defense's plan was simply to not deny guilt but to make it appear as though he was controlled by his older brother, leading to life in prison instead of the death penalty...the feeling locally is they failed, despite the quality of legal representation.

Proving the system can protect all of our citizens may be the real winner. As distasteful as it is, our freedoms and protections are only as strong as those provided to the lowest, most vile among us. In the face of "good" Americans screeching against fair trial all the time, I for one am relieved to know I have a chance if ever railroaded by a government with which I differ enough to loudly protest...

I would hope that happens, Jack. Sure don't want that door closed to me and you, extreme testing is the only way to protect us.

And that would take place before or after you are held indefinitely and without probable cause and even if released are threatened to never speak a word of it to another person under penalty of the law as the "Patriot Act" now allows for?

Hows that relief working for you now?

at whom do I vent my anger at for this Patriot Act? OOOPS!

no need to answer, just pointing out that your leanings may feel right to you but in reality are just as far from pure as the side you despise, particularly to approximately half the nation.

So far, 98.2% of Americans voicing opposition toward this and the previous administrations are freely walking about...though I share your fear of the door being open even just a crack.

It's never perfect, and it will never be if one side has total control. I fear having all elected sounding like me. When your voice is stifled, my freedom is in jeopardy.

Beware the Benevolent Dictator.

For now, at this point in history, I'll take this trial in Boston as a very positive development for American values.

The sooner we off Boston Marathon bomber, specifically, sh|t bag number two, (Doesn't deserve a human name.) the better.

I am so sick and tired of seeing sh|t bags face on the news and in the papers. If they want to show a picture, use one of the surveillance photos of his carrying the bomb into the crowd.

I agree. I feel the same way about Hitlary. If they wanna show her face, make sure she's superimposed onto a photo of the burning Bhengazi embassy with her hands in the air saying "what difference does it make?".

I'm sure no one expects a jury from MA to go for the death penalty, but they were very exacting in the selection process to question each candidate's willingness to vote for it if convinced it was deserved.

that said, two things stand out to me from the bombardment of info the last 48 hours:

despite the huge push to hold him responsible for his actions, there is also a subtle push indicating that if there never was an older brother (5/6 years older) at all, the kid would have never become a radicalized muslim...this does not seem to be gaining traction.

secondly, a death penalty case attorney acting as a commentator on local TV and radio (his name escapes me) phrased the sentencing choice this way: does HE deserve the death penalty vs do WE deserve to provide it.

Hard to say what the jury will feel.

If the jury doesn't read the Globe then they might just pull that lever.

Let people from Boston decide. It would be a lot easier if the news would show the surveillance pictures of this sh|t bag carrying the bomb instead of his sorry f'ing face. It was a determined killer, not some fluffy haired teen boy.

I heard they let one woman on the jury that opposed the death penalty... that's all it will take if she holds true... we'll see if they can change her mind or not... 😟

don't know what's being shown nationally, but around here the local news has shown almost nothing but him in the crowd, at the spot where he left a bomb, right behind the dead little boy and family.
then several clips and stills of him wandering through the crowd as cool as a cucumber, then buying milk at a convenience mart!

Then film of the car jack victim fleeing and begging for his life at another convenience mart/gas station, then film of he and his brother approaching the MIT cops car before murdering him...oh yeah, this is not a media orchestrated sympathy campaign.

only fluffy haired pics I recall are the hand drawn ones from the court appointed artist.
