"Historic handshake" has non-Cuban cigar brands shaking in their boots. Their Marketing Departments getting ready for the challenge.
I guess. 🍺

Anyone who has had Cuban cigars and Non-Cuban cigars will likely tell you the Cuban cigars are just better.

Taste, as we all know, is subjective. But if they were not better, why do all the countries except us not peddle the non-Cuban brands? Sure, you can get an Ashton, or a Padron in other countries, but they're not as prevalent and only the high end stuff here is sold anywhere else...

Which would lead an astute person to believe the low end crap sucks. And it does.

Now, don't get me wrong, there are Cuban Marcas I do not care for. Punch comes readily to mind. Aside from their SS#1 and #2, I don't like any of their vitolas.

And Cuba has their "high end" smokes, too... Cohiba and Trinidad anyone? Premium prices and they really aren't that much better than the rest, IMO.

If it ends... and it will... here are my thoughts: quality WILL suffer for a year or two because they're going to try to keep up with the new demand. After the initial rush and the novelty wearing off, they'll go back to business as usual. Prices, of course, will go up with the demand.

I guess I missed the announcement of a successful vote by congress to repeal the law which enacted the Cuban embargo. Anyone have a link?

Exactly the reason I won't be buying any CC. If this does happen, I'll be more interested in how non cuban manufacturers will incorporate cuban tobacco into new blends.

They could do that now and sell everywhere but us. Doesn't happen. I'm not sure why but suspect Cuba has no interest in that.

That's what I was thinking, too. Why dilute the value of their own product which is completely vertically integrated? It would seem an end to the embargo, not some handshake deal, would create a huge demand for a limited product. I'm thinking we will see immediate price increases on CC's, and tighter controls beginning with seeds extending to harvested leaf to the finished product in an effort to maintain complete control.

Why would the state run business sell their materials to a competitor in the marketplace?

And the POTUS playing grabass with the commie isn't changing anything OP.

Really? Well... we can go to Cuba now, whereas we could not just last year (legally). We can import limited amounts of their product now, whereas we could not just last year (legally).

It's going to happen, Brother... it's just a matter of time. And it should. With outside influence, and cash flow... capitalism will topple communism. Again.

Just my dos centavos.

You can NOT go to Cuba. Unless you have permission from the state department fir travel for buisness or education. $100 in goods can be brought back only from Cuba under those conditions. You can't bring back goods from Cuba that were bought elsewhere. ie Mexico ect ect.
