Mahi mahi over here.
And yup. Delicious.

Settle a debate please.
Is the meat more similar to tuna (blue fin, yellow fin) or to swordfish?

I've never had swordfish, but to me Mahi is nothing like tuna.

I prefer Mahi/Dorado/Dolfin, to tuna every day of the week and twice on Sunday. What you call it depends on where you live... I've always called it Mahi as well, but all these folks in Cali keep saying "It's Dorado" and I keep telling them it's the same flippin' fish, no matter what you call it.

I also caught a Yellowfin Tuna. It was only about 10 lbs, but it's still gonna taste good (just not as good as Mahi).

I make simple sandwiches with it. Toasted Hawaiian bun, lettuce, tomato, red onion and mayo... lightly salt and pepper and pan fry in real butter. =p~

HA! thanks for the clarification.

But doesn't that fish look like he got shot in the rib cage? Is that what shooting fish in a barrel means?

Its really nothing like Tuna and not even close to Swordfish either for that matter. Tuna is a red or pink meat and strong in flavor. I think it tastes best either raw, grilled, smoked, or canned. Mahi / Dolphin is light colored flesh similar to Redfish and is good either grilled, fried, or blackened. Swordfish is snowy white with a mild delicate flavor. I prefer it either grilled or poached and served ice cold. Tuna and Swordfish have very firm flesh, Mahi / Dolphin, not so much.

I brought him up to the boat on the bow (less crowded, and that's where he went). About a 10 foot drop to the water so he had to be gaffed. So he was stabbed there with a sharp hook on the end of a bamboo pole... and hoisted aboard that way. I had 40 lb line with a 30 lb fluorocarbon leader, but I wasn't about to see if it would hold him... or if the hook would stay in.
