I remember listening to him call Braves games as a kid in the early 70's. I'd go to sleep at night with my transitor radio under my pillow.
Milo Hamilton, voice of Hank Aaron's 715th homer, dies
Milo Hamilton, who famously called Hank Aaron's 715th home run on Braves radio in 1974, has died. He was 88.
Hamilton called Major League Baseball games on radio and television from the 1950s through 2012, including almost a decade for the Atlanta Braves.
Hamilton got his start in St. Louis, calling games for the Browns in 1953 and the Cardinals the following year. He was a broadcaster for the Chicago Cubs (1956-57, 1980-84), Chicago White Sox (1962-65), Braves (1966-75), Pittsburgh Pirates (1976-79) and the Houston Astros from 1985 through 2012.
Hamilton was the 1992 recipient of the Ford Frick Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame for contributions across seven decades.
