Hey Burner... I'm thinking Louie Dog needs a friend and want another Husky... Huskies are hard enough to train... Harder with a rescue?

I think in South Carolina that one of the Husky Rescue organizations works in partnership with the prison system and their dogs are completely trained by prisoners.

Our Red knows the very basics and not really interested in doing what we want. Part of this may be due to him being an escape artist and runner. He is a good dog but some what hard headed.

Truly sorry for your loss, they leave a hole in your life when they depart...but glad you were graced with her companionship for such a long time! Also glad your next one will be a rescue too; you're 100% right there are too many of them without homes! I pledged many years ago that I'd open my home only to those dogs that no one else wanted, the ones without a chance of being adopted out because they're too old, sick, too big, etc. Since then, I've been blessed with three of the most loving and loyal creatures on four legs. Three big ole ugly-girl mastiff & Staffordshire mixes, who've each utterly won my family's hearts. Dogs that otherwise were deemed unfit / un-socialized / dangerous...and they proved the naysayers wrong and have been cuddling up on my 8-yr old daughter's bed for her whole life.

Have you been to see her in person?

Before we adopted Big Gal in early 2010, we had an afternoon play date for the three to get acquainted and see if she would defer the Alpha female role to Ol Gal who was her senior by seven years and smaller by 25 pounds. We also brought her home for a weekend just to ensure that she would fit in prior to the final adoption. The first play date also allowed the rescue rep to see that we were equipped to take care of three Husky’s.

An in home visit could very well answer your concerns. Or reduce the neighborhood cat population.

I've sent an email with questions but haven't heard back yet. I'm concerned with the fact it seems to be a home rather than a rescue, but also about the cat. I also have questions about if she's been an inside dog, been around kids or dogs, has any resource guarding issues, destructive issues etc... things I think I could more easily correct if she was a puppy or if a foster family was working with her....

I'm also looking in to Juliette

Juliette is also a great looking gal. Also seems that their site answers most of your concerns which are valid. Any reputable rescue should be able to answer your concerns on any of their dogs up for adoption. As far as cats go, all of our Husky's ignored the cats when they where in the house.

Ol Gal was best buds with one of our cats when they were both inside. But with that being said, I did not like the cats chances if one of them wondered into the back yard when we were not present. The pack mentality is extremely strong when you have two or more Husky's together.

Oh **** dude so sorry to hear this.
Doggies are great, I miss my DD dog so much, glad you still have some "family" around to help everyone with thier grief.

i know the feeling too well.rescue, and know that she is smiling down from the bridge glad you will have another.i've rescued English Springer Spaniels and it makes my life whole!
