I just reseasoned my humidor and I did the shot glass method where you leave distilled water in a shot glass for 5 days inside your humidor and your hygrometer should read 80% on the last day. My hygrometer is only reading about 70% but I need to get my Stogies in there because I'm short on storage.

You think it's alright to leave my cigars in there with shot glass for a few more days just to make sure my humidor is completely seasoned? Also, I how do you guys season your humidor a and what would you consider the BEST way to season a humidor?

You get the veneer on a humidor too damp and it's likely to warp and seperate.

Spring for a wineadoor or a cooler.

Don't wipe the wood.

Also don't expect much from those cheapo China humidors unless you put some work into them to make em work.

Use tupperware, ammo can, pelican case, cooler, etc and two way humidification via Heartfelt beads or Boveda packs if you want a foolproof setup.

Hahaha it's been good Dylan. Good to see they haven't run you off yet and it's good to be back, but I think I've learned my lesson... When they ask me why I'm avoiding you it'll just be because you smell real bad and not because Of that time you blew up my mailbox.

Thanks for the advice everybody. When I first started out I was wiping the wood, but I've come a long way now and learned my lessons there. Got one of those nice wineadors though. I figured it would be a good investment and less troublesome. So far so good. Keep smokin people!

If you use Tupperware, ammo can, etc., be sure to add a couple of pieces of Spanish Cedar inside The more, the better. The Spanish Cedar does help with the aging. It's amazing how much the solid Spanish Cedar we use in our custom humidors will smooth out and improve even inexpensive, mediocre cigars. I've purchased cigars that were so harsh and/or bitter "off the truck", that after smoking one, I felt like I had been gargling sand. After some time in the humidor, they were much improved. Also, a digital hygrometer would help to control and maintain an even internal humidity.

You know what I've found the cheapo humidors are good for? A Cheap source of wood for making other "dors".

Im stripping two this weekend to cut and line two 50 Cal cans I have sitting around the house.

The wipes sold on cigar are glycol blend. They are safe.
