No, I'm not joking. I want as many MREs as possible. I see all these surplus stores selling them for like $9 a meal, or $5 an entree and it's rediculous.

I began hiking as a hobby, and I'm sick of stopping at McDonald's after a day of hiking. I want to toss a case of MREs into the trunk for such occasions. I loved these as a kid and my father used to bring them home as a treat.

So, I'm willing to trade some sticks for as many MREs as any of you military boys can provide.

I did a search on the internet and found some with case prices as low as $55 I will ask Tank to run to a couple places around here to see what they run.

Of course, he is working the next couple of days so he won't have any free time until later in the week.

Hmm, the cheapest I found online was around $67 for a case of 12. Still around $5-$6 per unit. For that price, I could just go to McDonalds.

I figured if some military personel here would have some extra lying around, they'd be willing to get rid of them.

The problem is shipping. I have a sealed case of 12 but I'm betting it would cost mucho dinero to ship

I've got some, but the shipping is a killer on these. Consider I paid $45 a case, then almost $20 to ship to me, then it would be another $20 to ship to you. You're better off buying from the e place.

I see these in the "Sportsmans Guide" catalog quite often....don't recall the price and I recently "de-catalogued" my house.

I seem to remeber that they seemed expensive in terms of the enjoyment you would glean from eating them.

When I hunt, I just usually carry a sammich or two (yes I meant to spell sandwhich in Pittsburgh dialect).

The ones in the catalogs aren't .gov issue. They aren't allowed to sell them. They also lack some of the items, like heaters.

I'm sure any of the Armed Forces would gladly supply them, with an enlistment for a period of time. 🙂

Of course, they may not allow much time for the hike, unless you like sand.
