Nolan Lake Trail is in the northwestern Sawatch Range, part of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. It is located in the Holy Cross Wilderness area west of New York Mountain in Eagle County.

We set-up camp just below the old mining town of Fulford, approx elev of 9,600ft. After climbing almost 1650 vertical feet over 3-miles we lost the trail due to waist-high snow drifts and major mountain run-off. Pic was taken at approx 11,250ft elev but we still needed to climb higher to reach the lake. Fishing & camping is permitted at the lake if you can make it. Not a hike for beginners or those not accustomed to the high altitude. I was winded and nauseous, but hope to make the ascent again to reach the lake in Sept in preparation for elk season.
