It's all good. I'm signing up for a Trump-gun soon.

It's a great program... free gun in the hands of every illegal Columbian American.

Oooh! Go with the 9mm. I hear they are going to have a trump-govmut-cheese type program but with 9mm ammo for the economically challenged folk, making between $750k and 250k, and fully free for those above.

You know - every time a wealthy man shoots someone, we all benefit.
Except the immigrants.....

I really feel like Victor is the victim in all this. He is Columbian and crossed here illegally. Our system gave him free housing, free healthcare, and free food. Since he's got no papers he can't legally own a gun. :(

I'm in favor of background checks, and since I do them here in CA, I know how long they take. Minutes. Nation wide checks may take up to a couple days. But I see nothing wrong with proper vetting of potential gun owners/buyers if done in a timely manner.

I don't want people with serious mental health issues buying or owning guns. It's just not smart. But I don't know what classifies as serious... and I suspect only a professional psych doctor could tell you that. It is my understanding that the law, as written, was restricting people that did not need to be restricted.

Easy there Macs, these guys pride themselves in remaining ignorant regarding the facts of background checks and since they'll likely never own a gun...they'll never know the truth by going through the process themselves.

... you do realize he said the process takes..... minutes...

Yes... you heard him.... minutes....

That's like 3 cbid posts... (or 1/4 of a cbid post for you poor American educated individuals).

I mean... I don't personally think the process should exist at all. But I'll defer to macs on whether it is onerous or not.

Problem is, they DON'T WORK. Also, Democrats are doing everything they can to not fix "false hits" and they're also doing away with provisions that protected citizens if a challenged denial wasn't processed in a timely manner they could pick up their gun. NOW......with this tactic a legal citizen could be with elderly indefinitely without recourse or redress of grievance.

Don't complain to me about it... I'm all for no screening whatsoever. MACS is the one who said it takes minutes and supported the idea of it.

I honestly don't give a rats azz if someone wants to buy a tripod mounted automatic weapon days after breaking out of the mental hospital.

I only point out that libtards like TCBY want to control people's access to necessary self defense items like rpgs...

Alright guys, I've finally decided that my conceit and narcissism has reached a new level and I'm going to create a Facebook page where people can simply "Like" me versus being my friend.

I figure I'll just post all the cool stuff I like to do, like shoot guns, smoke cigars, eat food, local music, and talk about other stuff that's relevant to me. Some people who have given me cigars in the past on the forum might get a humble shout out or thank you.

More details soon enough!

Cali uses CLETS (CA law enforcement telecommunication system). Minutes. Most of that time is entering the full name and date of birth; then if multiple entries come up, figuring out which one it is by matching the DL and address.

CLETS shows wants/warrants, restraining orders, probation or parole, driving record, any registered guns you own and where you bought them, and a few other reports.

Obviously gun purchases have to be run federally, or felons would move to another state and buy a gun illegally. I'm sure that if CA can come up with a system that works quickly the feds can, too. In any case... I think anywhere from 3-5 days is not unreasonable. 10 days, as CA has, is excessive in my opinion.

And I disagree with Victor. I am in favor of checks, but timely checks. There is nothing wrong with ensuring you are not selling a gun to a felon or a nut.

FBI runs the federal system, and they are actually fast with it unlike the class 3 items. Here in Oregon they've opted out and have the OSP run it (again insuring more state union jobs, and an avenue of control with the governor running the OSP). They've also admitted to keeping records permanently when the law states no longer than 3 years which is also excessive.
