Taxing vs "forcing to buy" is mainly a difference in semantics. The only significant difference is that taxing can't force someone who doesn't earn or own anything to buy in...

And in your comparison, obamacare is like putting a toll booth on a road and then finding all the people who didn't pay that toll because they didn't use that road and kicking their door in and robbing them...

We are forced to buy a lot of stuff...aircraft carriers, fighter jets, armored/assault vehicles, military bases all over the world, which we don't get direct benefit from, and at home: seat belts, air bags, motorcycle helmets, auto insurance, driver's licences...arguably these things cost us all a "little" so we don't pay a greater social cost...

...and if you look at the review of AHCA, the primary beneficiaries are those in the $250K + income group, along with the outrageously wealthy healthcare companies...so yeah, you (opelman) may hate that they complained but...seems GOP does their bidding all the time, ignoring the poor old people who elected them... but who, for some reason, those poor old people keep voting for them...

I don't believe for a second that either of you doesn't understand the difference between taxes that are levied against all of our incomes vs. penalties levied against individuals refusing to buy a service the government orders them to buy...

if you don't want to pay taxes, then you don't work... I think it's crazy but there are people who take that route...

but if you don't want to use health care, the government will literally come and take money from you and if you don't have money, jail...

that's why...

... I agree that's a difference.
However, if I were to list things that bothered me in life, the rights of individuals who choose not to work simply because they don't want to pay taxes but still want to have use of schools and roads and military are pretty low.
You are essentially against the ACA as a forces purchase because of welfare queens....

you misinterperated who I was talking about when I mentioned those who didn't want to pay taxes and so didn't work... I was talking about sustenance hunters and the like...

welfare queens don't work cuz they're lazy... has nothing to do with protesting taxation...

Sustenance hunters still benefit from other people's taxes. They are living off land in the USA which is not being invaded by Canada or Mexico because of the strength of the US army. And that's at minimum. Let's not discuss the benefits they get from the roads or other infrastructure. None of which they pay into because they aren't working.

They are welfare queens just as much as any other.

And let's not discuss what a mighty sustenance hunter may do if they get sick and need medical care. If they are willing to stick to their principals they'll die out in the wilderness... but how often do you think that happens? More likely they will go to the emergency room like all other welfare queens and drive up medical costs for those of us who pay.

in all seriousness, I sure hope we don't talk any politics cuz without 5-15 minute breaks for me to google what the heck everyone is talking about, I can't hold my own... I don't follow politics... at all... I never even voted before this last election...
