I was just a kid when he was President, but I remembered my Dad being saddened when Ike was hospitalized for a severe heart attack after he left office. Dad said he was a great President, and before that, a great general whose leadership helped win WWII and rebuild the world after the war. Dad served in the USAF during the big one...

Ike was a very good ARTIST.

MANY people do not know about the private life of Ike... My "UNCLE BILL" told me all about it, many times...

He had a farm outside of Gettysburg , PA...

Not sure if it is open to the public now or not...
I went there with UNCLE BILL before it was open to the public...when "BESS" still resided there,
I saw many ORIGINAL IKE PAINTINGS all over the house...he painted in a " open impression style"
Not an illustrative exact picture like style...but a loose interperative style...many of his paintings had stark subdued colors...several of his paintings were from EUROPE during the war or painted at home after the war from pictures...

It is a very cool place.
