^^Check that out, Al. Professor of Law at UCLA, explains.

Pretty concise and clear statement about the 2nd Amendment. I agree with all he said. UCLA has some pretty decent professors across the political spectrum. Individual gun ownership by citizens is a Constitutional right, undoubtedly. Just as the Professor said about the First Amendment, reasonable and limited regulations are necessary, for both of these basic and primary rights of all citizens in our civil society. I'm proud to SAY it: I'm a GUN OWNER...I'm a CITIZEN...

For those who say that the Second Amendment protects us from tyranny by the government...that dog won't hunt. Can't think of a single citizen who owns a fully equipped armored tank, or a MOAB, let alone a nuclear warhead. I can't think of a single citizen in whom I would trust to possess such a weapon.

We, the people, who need protection from the federal govt., consistently support and vote for higher military expenditures so that our govt. can expand the might of our military: more soldiers, better facilities, more and more powerful weapons, more resources...it is the single largest expenditure in the federal budget...no way to ever level that playing field...

...friggin' right the "militia" (we the people) is well regulated...we just can't decide on how "well" is "well"...

The second amendment does not say that a militia is mandatory.

What it does say is that the right "Shall not be infringed".

It does not say " with reasonable restrictions" or anything else at all.

I dunno I feel like I could trust all those guys who had their $500 orders stolen by cbid with a moab.

Then perhaps a constitutional amendment would be in order rather than some jerkwad liberal judges rewriting laws as they see fit.

Where does it end?

The fact us common folk can argue about the nuances of what it really means is pretty cool and unusual in this world. I appreciate the folks that disagree with me and they are not evil villains. And they can not have my guns and in reality most don't want to take them. There are always a few loons that do, but there are also others that want rocket launchers.

I believe the 2nd amendment is our concealed carry permit.

The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

The people... us, retain the right, to keep (own) and bear (carry) arms.

I believe it's my First Amendment right to say whatever I want...but if I do, in some places, under some circumstances...there'll be consequences.

It's well established that individual states have the authority to regulate the bearing of arms...reasonable restrictions?...you decide if you want to test it...your belief can get you some jail time in some places...

...plenty of people can afford military weapons of mass destruction...the new F-35 fighter jet is priced at less than $100 million...but it's illegal (reasonable restriction?) to do so...

"Well regulated" means more than "trained". If that was the criteria, then only soldiers and law enforcement officers, would qualify for militias...
