Congress will be busy during the next couple of months with the debt limit and budget coming up, then their stated goal to do tax reform...plus all the libraries, post office branches and parks that need to be re-named...

Riddle me this: Aren't we a country that believes in the rule of law? Didn't that *** actually say that numerous times? But, instead of following the rule of law, he pens an executive order where he basically abdicates his constitutional responsibility not to mention failing to uphold his oath of office for by issuing such an order?

Please tell me where in the constitution does it allow the president to usurp the l legislative process. Congress wrote our current immigration laws that were lawfully enacted. Even if congress fails to act, the president has no legal authority to bypass congress and make or enforce policy inconsistent with the law.

This is similar to someone who has a traffic warrant that is 15 years old. It's still a valid warrant. No different that being here illegally. They are still in the county illegally. If we say that it's ok, then what next do we say is ok even though there are laws on the book that are contrary?

Obama is to blame for this. He implemented a policy while at the same time attempting to politically tie future administrations hands. His entire administration was arbitrary. He created this mess they pawned it off on future administrations. It's a classic triangulation. James Carville must have a permanent smile etched on his face.

America's Big Business, the people who actually run this country, overwhelmingly want to keep DACA...part of the strategy to keep wages low, increase profits, make big salaries and bonuses for CEOs, dividends for shareholders...

DACA is a winner for the 1% disguised as an empathetic concern for innocent children, incapable of having criminal intent, who were brought into this country without choice, and have assimilated into the country and adopted our values...a sizable majority of Americans, among those uninformed who do not post here, support DACA...

The Latino portion of the American market is the fastest growing sector and needs to be fed and exploited...

Agree that not acknowledging the 'illegal' part is totally inexplicable. But, I do have some compassion (see, Jones!) for those that came here as minors without choice.

Don't have all the small details worked out, but my wife has a plan that I can get behind:

- Dreamers can stay and even work towards citizenship if they meet some criteria

Arrived as minor
Been here more than 5 years
No criminal convictions -- need to work out exactly where this line will be drawn, but I might even include truancy
Pass a 'rudimentary' English test
Mandatory 2 years public (or military) service
Once mandatory service complete, they can be issued a Green Card


'Future' illegal minors who manage to hide for more than five years might get dreamer opportunity...not sure yet...maybe with increasing length of public service? After 2020, three years? After 2025, five years?....I don't want to encourage future illegals, so, I'd make the risk increasingly great....but, I'm a long ways from deporting every illegal...especially those that came here as minors....even later

The cost of a government managed compulsory service program scares me...somehow it needs to be offset by the dreamer labor/service...I'll figure that part out later

The more I think about it, the more that I can probably get behind compulsory service for our citizen kids, too...6 months, maybe....a year even?...completed between ages of 17 and 24?
