The picture of the black man was clearly prejudicial...everybody knows that was Tyereen "Hard" Knox, Crips founder, drug dealer and suspected murderer...

iirc, there were similar studies done back in the 60's to show racial bias against blacks. Participants were asked to express favorable vs unfavorable opinions about an image of a person and an associated idea. Whites showed most negative opinions when viewing a black person, who were viewed most negatively among all groups by participants of all races and backgrounds...even among blacks...

I don't think putting Elder's picture in the test instead of the one selected would change the results that much... this would:

Elder is an effective spokesman for those who like the message that there isn't racism, just that the culture in much of black America is at the root of their problems...notice how he switched the conversation away from law enforcement/black community tensions over officer involved shootings to statistics about black on black crime...

to this day, police agencies do not/are not required to count officer involved shootings by the subject's race, so there aren't definitive data...but Stanford is making an effort by doing painstaking research reviewing files from all over the country

If racism is so prevalent (and I do not believe it is, except for your extremists like the kkk and blm) explain black lawyers, cops, judges, ceo's, entertainers, politicians, etc. Nothing prevents anyone from success but themselves and their excuses.

Explain why 13% of the population commits 52% of the homicides? Thug life, bitches!! It is glamorized in movies, music, and the neighborhoods. He, and Tommy Sotomayor, believes it is the culture. I agree.

So your argument against a study suggesting a correlation between Trump supporters and a knee jerk reaction to negatively think of any proposal simply because you saw a black face immediately before being asked it... is that racism can't possibly exist. But anyway blacks commit a disproportionate number of crimes....

I think you're proving my point... (assuming you voted for trump)

Not everyone is racist and those that are are not always extreme about it.

Racism is often subtle and more prevalent than many know. It's more than the kkk or blm.

I used to see and think like you MACS. But I've seen things that have changed my mind.

I've also experienced racism against me while in Puerto Rico. Nothing major but a few very clear examples. What was obvious is it was fueled by fear and ignorance. It was as amusing as aggravating to me but if I had to deal with it more frequently I'd be pretty pissed.

The entire argument that Trump supporters are racist is f***ing nonsense.

The fact that anyone did a study is f***ing nonsense.

True.. True.... But if they say it enough times it'll become fact...😟

I dunno. They had a hypothesis... two actually... and they tested the hypothesis and found evidence to support it.

If they found evidence to support the hypothesis, it seems sort of strange to call the study nonsense. I mean.... nonsense would be if they found no difference. But hey... you can say it's nonsense all you want. Heck, you can do your own study to show there is no difference between trump supporters and trump "opposers".... (their words not mine). No one is stopping you from getting better information.

Frank...their hypothesis are:
Hypothesis 1: for Trump supporters, subtle presentation of a black racial cue—versus a
white racial cue—will (a) decrease support for government housing assistance, (b)
increase anger that some people receive government assistance, and (c) increase the
belief that individuals are to blame for their situation.
Hypothesis 2: for Trump opponents, the presence of a black (versus a white) racial cue
will (a) increase support for government housing assistance, (b) decrease anger towards
people receiving government assistance, and (c) decrease their belief that individuals are
to blame for their situation.

Within the constraints of their study they found this to be consistent. Obviously, more studies should be done... but I don't think there is much surprise here.
