This is a seal from one of my boxes. Does anybody know if it is real?

I am referring to the color of the watermark under the blacklight. Notice it is yellow. I have read on the Cigar Nexus website that this should be pink. Sorry about the haziness but that is the best my camera would do under those lighting conditions.

may i suggest that more time is spent by botl trying to determine the authenticity of cuban cigars.

prior to the embargo and before excellent cigras were available from the dominican, less then 20@% of cigars bought from cigar shops were from cuba.

the reason as explained to me by a cigar store owner of more then 50 years is they cost too much and were not worth the difference.

now there are many excellent cigars coming out of the dominican and other places that the heavy price for cuban cigars is over the top.

a box of cuban cigars, for example, monte cristo #2's can be bought, illegally for about $250.00 a box of 25.

are they worth $10.00 each? that is probably a matter of taste or discretionary income.

it was suppossed to be the dirt, the earth that the tobacco grew in that made the leaves so much better then anywhere else.

is cuba taking the same care of the land that was owned by the private cigar growers to insure it's maintaining whatever was in the ground that made the tobacco grow better? personally i doubt it.

i appreciate a cigar from an ISOM, but i think it's more like making it with one of the oinks. probably not any better, but the idea seems to make it special.

I just want to know if the boxes I have are fake or not. That's all.

from what Ive read the watermark should be green, the serial number should be red. Look for microprinting across the bottom of the seal. Count the number of field workers. Overall color in good light should be that of a dollar bill.

ATUCK,
Relax, and smoke them.
I have seen more hand wringing about this. "Is it real?, Will the girls like this?, Will the girls like that?, Is it too big?, Is it too small?
If you smoke them, and like them, does it matter?
Do you need public approval just to light a cigar?
Smoke them, end the fantasy, have forbidden fruit, JUST DO IT!
Oh, and it looks real to me.

They taste real as far as I know. All the boxes I have have this yellow watermark. THe boxes pass all other criteria that I know of and the cigars are just like I have seen Cubans described. But it would be nice to know for sure. These cigars are excellent to smoke as well, better than most domestics that I have ever had. Real or not, I can't keep my hands off of them.

I found the answer to my question. It seems that the watermark showed pink under a blacklight previous to '02 and in some cases in '02. But since '02 the watermark now glows a yellow color under a blacklight.
