not exactly a surprise ... but to tell the truth, I really wanted to see Hillary in cuffs and ducking her head as she was put into the back seat of a police cruiser ...

Long list of charges, but the gist is money laundering related and false statements.

Whitehouse is already referring to him and Gates as "bad guys".

I think Manafort and Gates could be linchpins, if they are unwilling to take the fall, and if anything illegal actually happened with Trump.

TV news reports that a third party was charged and has plead guilty. Any one wonder whether that person "cut a deal"?

Check the dates, says Sal R. Perricone, a retired federal prosicutor:

NOTE: As a retired federal prosecutor, I have written similar conspiracy indictments. The one thing that leaps from the pages of this indictment is that all the criminal activity occurred before Donald Trump announced he was running for president. The little trick that prosecutors use is called conspiracy expansion--that is by making the dates of the conspiracy to be as broad as they can and qualifying it in "approximate" terms. Now the Clintonistas, including CNN, will extrapolate that the president knew about the defendants' activities, or should have known and hired Manafort anyway. Just wait. It's coming. Nowhere in the indictment does it charge the defendants with and campaign-related activity or a commingling of criminal activity with what Manafort did for the Trump campaign. Readers and the public must exercise caution when reading any news reports about these types of matters. Reporters are not schooled or skilled in this matters and will mix their reporting with their untutored and biased opinions. CAVEAT LECTOR.

Yeah, if Trump is guilty of anything, he needs to take a page out of the Clinton handbook and kill anyone who can testify.

Edit: Too late, now, though...

Well, it's worth noting that the charges against these guys have nothing to do with Russia or collusion ... money laundering long before election campaign and lying under oath ... the money laundering stuff was quite well known to Washington insiders but may not have been known to Trump ... which, whether or not he knew about it, reflects quite poorly on him and his judgment (either he knew and thought it was no big deal or didn't know something virtually everyone else did) ...

I suppose I haven't been paying much attention....I disclaim that hearing the word Mueller...or Russia is like a hypnosis trigger that makes my eyes glaze over. But I thought that this 'investigation' was initiated to look into Russia or collusion...if true, wouldn't that mean that the 'charges against these guys' have a great deal to do with Russia...or at least result from something to do with Russia, even if imagined?

I guess you are really just making my point above....didn't mean to sound combative
