Oven has been on all weekend making sweet baked goodies. Lots of fresh pumpkin bread, gobs, and a variety of cookies.

Definitely not ready here. Still have some shopping to complete this week, then I’m done.

Kids are coming home from College tomorrow. Looking forward to that.

Our extended family is celebrating this Saturday. I'm concentrating on getting out of the Ross Heart Hospital at OSU so I can join them.

I came back to my folk's house with all sorts of Russian and Polish Chocolates, cherry cordials, baklava, king's mix, mixed nuts, fruit candies, turkish delight, just kinda went overboard. Then my sister came and baked a ton of fresh Kolače: apricot, cream cheese, prune, cherry and a giant poppyseed roll.

I dearly love Cream Cheese Kolache. Then again I love cream cheese anything. Crumb or streusel topping? Now I am getting hungry. Dang it Allen!

Haven't wrapped the wife's presents yet, I'd almost rather take a beating than wrap a present. 🤦

We always do struesel topping. Crumb just never cuts it.

Wish we could have killed a hog or a deer this year. Would have been nice to have made some homeade Sausage.

Not ready. Trying to buy everything on Amazon...not getting done. Its hard when you can't browse all the isles like at a store.

Petryna, cuts for the sausage or was that a pun for the crumb topping? Lol

We'll keep the backstraps and usually the round for steaks but beyond that we grind everything else. And do a 50/50 mix of Deer/Pork. Shoulder is usually damaged unless there's a good neck shot.

On the boars, we'll grind the whole thing up. We might take the loins if they're big enough and stuff them with walnut, pickles, and eggs.

We try to stay around at least 70% fat and pack extra tight then cold smoke for six hours.

My parents prefer the standard of salt, pepper, garlic. I like to do a few Moravian spice blends as well as Jalowcowa. Every now and then we might do a Texas style jiternice/kizka with only hog's head meat and rice; no blood but that's a rarity as time progresses. We usually just buy that from the store.

damn, thats involved. i have some 2 year old venison hanging out in a friends freezer but idk if its still good, and not gonna subject people to that. only got a smaller doe this year that was an experiment on home processing that was basically wtf am i doing here.

was told to leave a full shoulder intact to fully smoke by my mom and aunt. and told to grind it up by anyone who ever stepped into the field lol after the fact.

like i said, experiment.
