Friends raved about the Hoosier National Forest. Easy to drive there, they said. Gorgeous scenery, they said. Friendly forest rangers, they said. Not crowded, they said. We'll book a double campsite big enough for both campers - we've done it before, they said.

Arrived Friday morning to find our friends had made a mistake. Loop B of the Indian Lake campground has the wonderful campsites with 30 amp electicity and yada yada. Loop C of the campground has NOTHING BUT ACRES OF POISON IVY growing 10 feet up every tree! Roomy? As you can see we're pretty jammed in there. We had about 5 feet between the campers. Ours is the Prowler. Luckily we were able to operate our camper on battery power so we had hot and cold running water and could use the lights at night. Our friends had nothing but a lantern.

The lessons learned: TRUST BUT VERIFY and NEVER LET FRIENDS BOOK YOUR CAMPSITE FOR YOU!428864.jpg

I have children, and I'm over 40 so some of the farting and snoring was from us.

llehrjjett ,

You're right. This sounds like complaining, but its not. We had a great time and realized just how capable the travel trailer really is - it can go anywhere we want to go and work just fine. Every time we go out camping one of us will say "I love our camper."

cammper... try a dual battery hook up.

First thing I added to our camper for the times we spend boondocking at Nascar races.

Now that when ya get packed in real tight, sometimes you can even open your awning

Also a small generator comes in handy if ya wanna use the AC or watch TV or pop a bag of popcorn in the mikey

or when the wife wants to blow dry her hair,,

Ahhhhh nothing like roughing it in the great outdoors is there

EI,

Been thinking about the dual battery option connected parallel so they would recharge at the same time while driving, but worried that would be too much power for the lights. Is that what you do, or do you use one battery up and then switch to the other one?

I have them hooked up parallel so that they put out 12 volts.. In series they would put out 24 volts

they charge with the vehicle while driving but last longer because instead of using the cold cranking amps of one battery (say 650cca) it uses the amps of both batteries before discharging. You can run your lights longer before your battery power runs down

If i get a chance I will post a pic of my set up
